Policy Roundtable: ‘The Regional Representation and the “Issue” of Northern Kosovo: Challenges to Ending the Supervised Independence and Continuing the Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue’

Event Summary:
On February 15, Group for Legal and Political Studies hosted a policy roundtable about the Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue, challenges in agreeing upon a formula for Kosovo’s representation in regional initiatives, in the context of both finding a sustainable solution for the northern Kosovo and ending the international supervision.

A special focus in this policy roundtable was devoted to the: a) finding a sustainable solution for the northern Kosovo in the context of the end of the international supervision; b) challenges in reaching an agreement for the regional representation of Kosovo, and the implications deriving from such an agreement vis-a-vis both the dynamics of Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue and the Kosovo’s claim for representation as an independent and sovereign state; c) the impact of the Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue in the expansion of the Ahtisaari Plan’s authority in the northern Kosovo; and, d) whether a sustainable solution for the northern Kosovo should be viewed exclusively within the process of ending the international supervision, or as an ancillary process to be developed within the context of Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue.
