GLPS hosted a Panel Discussion and released a Policy Report on the asset declaration system and the fight against corruption

On 25 June 2014, Group for Legal and Political Studies hosted a Panel Discussion on the topic: ‘The Asset Declarations System and the fight against Corruption in Kosovo’. The panelists presented their opinions on the current system of asset declarations of senior public officials and reiterated the importance of the asset declaration system in the fight against corruption and abuse of power in Kosovo. In particular, the panelists focused on the practices that may help improve the asset declaration policy as well as identified the weaknesses that characterize this policy. Having regarded the role that the asset declaration has in preventing and fighting corruption of public officials, this panel discussion also examined the practices of other countries that can help Kosovo to better utilize this policy. The Panel Discussion opened with the presentation of a Policy Report entitled: ‘Is the Asset Declarations System in Kosovo helping the fight against Corruption and preventing the Abuse of Power?’. The GLPS Report provides a unique contribution that may help the improvement of the existing policy and identifies its key problems. The report offers a list of policy recommendations that will enable the enhancement of the overall system of asset declarations in Kosovo. The report may be downloaded by clicking here.
