GLPS Co-organized the National Workshop on Civil Service Reform in Kosovo

December 26, 2012

From 19 to 22 December 2012, Group for Legal and Political Studies, in cooperation with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the Task Force for European Integration of the Republic of Kosovo, organized the National Workshop on Civil Service Reform in Kosovo. The workshop was attended by senior policy-makers of Kosovo’s Government, international donor representatives, European integration experts and civil society members. The workshop intended to review the state-of-affairs of civil service in Kosovo, and to provide policy solutions that would increase the performance and professional capacity of civil servants. Group for Legal and Political Studies provided a white paper to the workshop discussants on the overall developments in the civil service and the implications deriving from its politicization and lack of professionalism. The workshop ended with a series of policy recommendations that will be addressed within the auspices of the Kosovo’s National European Integration Council and respective government ministries. The workshop also paved the way for a national reform of the civil service, giving policy directions that other transitional polities have followed in their European integration paths.
