Coalition of CSOs organized numerous activities during Anti-Corruption Week 2018 in Kosovo

December 9, 2018

On December 9, Group for Legal and Political Studies (GLPS), together with five other civil society organizations (hereinafter: Coalition of CSO’s for the Anti-Corruption Week) have officially launched the activities of the “Anti –Corruption Week in Kosovo 2018”, supported by the Embassy of the United States in Kosovo. Under the slogan #bashkeendreqim and #unitedagainstcorruption, this five-day dynamic campaign consisted of various activities including roundtables, street performances, exhibitions, public debates, and other symbolic activities in the Mother Teresa square, marking the Anti-Corruption Week 2018. Through this activity the Coalition of CSO’s aimed to tackle various problematic issues related to the Anti-Corruption agenda. Topics tackled by the Coalition of the CSOs for the Anti-Corruption Week 2018 included the implementation of the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest adopted by the Assembly during April, as well as the need for a vetting process for the justice sector. By discussing the abovementioned topics, the Coalitions of CSOs tended to create a momentum for an enhanced public debate on the importance of the implementation of the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest which prohibits public officials to have more than one public position and receive a salary accordingly. On the other hand, the Anti-Corruption Week 2018 discussed the need for a vetting process for judicial institutions in Kosovo, by organizing two comprehensive debates with judicial and prosecutorial representatives, as well as political ones. Numerous policy recommendations which would strengthen the efforts towards combating corruption in Kosovo were provided during a week-long initiative undertaken by the Coalition of CSOs for the Anti-Corruption Week 2018.

The Coalition consists of these organizations: Group for Legal and Political Studies (GLPS), Kosovo Law Institute (KLI), Institute KIPRED, Institute for Advance Studies (GAP), Çohu, Initiative for Progress – INPO, Institute Columbus and ACDC.
